Catalyst masterbatch, used to SI-LINK polyethylene material

DFDB-5480 NT is a catalyst masterbatch, SI-LINK with Dow™A wet crosslinkable ethylene-silane copolymer including polyethylene DFDA-5451 NT is used together to provide the catalyst required for the crosslinking reaction. Since the catalyst masterbatch is transported separately with the ethylene-silane copolymer, these components are very stable during the shelf life. The crosslinking reaction occurs only after the two insulating material components are melt-mixed and wet-exposed.

DFDB-5480 NT has sufficient antioxidant content, therefore, this insulating material system has excellent processing performance and product performance. This insulation system is very effective for copper conduits or aluminum conduits.

The recommended usage of DFDB-5480 NT is about 5% (weight ratio). The specific dosage level depends on the process and the processing conditions used. Please contact your Dow sales representative or technical representative for your specific application to determine the usage level.

Extrusion instructions
Though the packaging used for DFDB-5480 NT is specifically designed to reduce moisture penetration, drying for 4 to 6 hours at 140°-160°F (60°-70°C) in a hopper drier with dehumidified air is recommended for optimum results. If desired, it may be dry mixed with DFDB-5410 BK carbon black masterbatch prior to being dried.
