Applications:
  • PURGEX 459 Plus is used for difficult color and/or material changes, the removal of residual contamination in thermoplastic injection molding, extrusion, or blow molding equipment.

  • PURGEX 459 Plus has proven to be effective at cleaning equipment molding resins with high pigment loading.

  • PURGEX 459 Plus cleans hot runner systems and can be safely processed through the hot runner gates as small as .030 inch or .75mm.

  • PURGEX 459 Plus is designed for Rapid turnaround on color and material changes with polyolephins and their copolymers, strenic polymers, acetals, PBT, TPO, TPU, and many other resins processed in this temperature range (300°F-550°F, 148°C-288°C).

Injection instructions
Empty barrel of production resin. Add PURGEX to hopper (a minimum of 1.5 times the injection capacity). Purge the barrel until PURGEX exits the nozzle. Soak for five minutes at processing temperature. Purge barrel to empty. Follow with next production resin, rinsing PURGEX from machine. Resume molding.
Extrusion instructions
Empty extruder. Remove screen. Seal vent. Fill extruder with PURGEX 459 Plus. Make certain extruder is full and PURGEX is exiting the nozzle as a foaming material. Soak five minutes at processing temperature. Add the next resin to be extruded and remove all PURGEX from the extruder. When it appears that PURGEX has been removed begin production.
